What’s involved in an Out of the Box Audition?
Note: Prior to auditioning you must have viewed a Playback performance either by Out of the Box or another playback company.
Auditions take place at our rehearsal venue at The Settlement in Redfern or at other venues from time to time as required. Auditions are comprised of two sessions carried out as part of our three-weekly Sunday rehearsals from 2.00pm – 5.00pm.
All auditionees are required to actively participate for 150 minutes during each audition, which takes the form a typical playback theatre rehearsal. Auditionees’ attributes are explored within an improvisational context and will include voice, music, movement, poetry, making and responding to offers, and chorus/ensemble work.
As the activities can be quite physical, and the space is not air conditioned, it is advisable to wear loose fitting comfortable clothing.
After the first session, short listing takes place and those considered as potential members will be asked to return for the second audition session.
